【Inseparable Friendship】

 Inseparable Friendship

Meaning: Describes a close and mutually understanding friendship.

Zhuangzi was a prominent representative of Daoist thought during the Warring States period.

In his book *Zhuangzi*, he elaborated on many aspects of life

For example, in the chapter "The Great Master," he recounts a conversation between four men: Zisi, Ziyu, Zili, and Zilai. (子祀、子輿、子犁、子來)

They discussed, "Whoever can take 'nothingness' as the head, 'life' as the spine, and 'death' as the tailbone,

or whoever understands that life and death are one, I will be his friend."

All four understood that life originates from nothingness, progresses to existence, and ultimately returns to death—that is, nothingness.

They smiled at each other, their hearts in perfect harmony, and thus became close friends

Later, the idiom "inseparable friends" evolved from the original phrase "inseparable in heart, thus becoming friends,"

and is used to describe friends who share the same ideals and have no reservations about each other.
