【David & Goliath】
Hi there little one. It's me little lamb.
Tonight I have a very special story about a boy named David who trusted God with all his heart.
Because of his faith, God helped him do something amazing.
Snuggle up tight and let's begin.
A long time ago in the land ofIsrael, there lived a king named Saul.
He was a mighty ruler, but his people were facing
a big, big problem.
Across the hills stood an army called the Philistines.
And they had a giant warrior named Goliath.
Goliath was so tall and strong that the Israelite soldiers felt small and afraid.
Every day, Goliath would shout across the valley,
"Send out your best fighter. If he wins, we will serve you. But if I win, you must serve us.”
The soldiers listened, but no one dared to step forward.
Meanwhile, far away in a quiet village, there lived a young boy named David.
David spent his days outside, caring for his
father's sheep.
He loved playing his harp under the soft blue sky, singing songs of praise to God.
David wasn't big or strong like a soldier, but he was brave and he trusted God with all his heart.
Whenever a lion or a bear
came to harm the sheep, David fought them off.
and heal ways knew it was God who helped him.
One day, David's father said to him,"Take
this food to your brothers who are fighting in the king's
army."
So, David packed up the bread
and cheese and set off toward the battlefield.
When he arrived, he heard Goliath's loud booming voice.
"Who dares to fight me?” The soldiers trembled with fear.
But David's heart was
strong and full of faith.
He asked, "Why is no one fighting him? God is with us. I will fight Goliath."
The soldiers laughed at the idea.
Even King Saul
said, "You are only a boy. Goliath has been a warrior his whole
life."
But David replied kindly,"God helped me protect my sheep from lions and bears.
He will help me fight this giant, too."
King Saul agreed and said, "At least wear my armor."
David tried it on, but it was too heavy.
He took it off and smiled. I don't need armor. God will protect me.
Instead, David went down to a nearby stream.
He picked out five smooth stones and placed them carefully in his pouch.
With only his sling
in hand and God in his heart, David stepped onto the battlefield.
Goliath laughed when he saw the young boy.
"Am I a dog that you come at me with sticks?"
But David stood tall and brave, he said.
You come with a sword and spear, but I come in
the name of the Lord Almighty. Today he will give me victory."
David placed a stone in his sling.
He whispered a prayer, pulled the sling back, and
let the stone fly through the air.
The stone struck Goliath right between the eyes.
The giant swayed and with a mighty thud he fell to the ground.
The Israelites stood silent for a moment.
Then they burst into tears.
God had given them victory through a boy who trusted him.
Not by strength, not by size, but by faith.
David's heart was full of joy, not pride, because he knew that it was God who won the battle.
And later, David would become a great king, one loved by God and loved by his people.
But it all began with a simple trust in the Lord.
Wasn't that a wonderful
story, my friend?
David was small, but his
faith was big and with God's help, he didsomething amazing.
And guess what? God loves you just as much.
He can help you face anything.
No matter how big it seems.
Before we go to bed, let's say a prayer.
Dear God, thank you for loving me.
Thank you for being bigger and stronger than any problem I face.
Help me to trust you just like David did.
I know that with you I can be brave and strong.
in Jesus's name. Amen.
