Wang Yangming: Spend your whole life being an upright person!

Introduction:

 

Being open and magnanimous (坦蕩) 

 

Life should be like this, and so should death.

Mr. Wang Yangming's knowledge is the study of the mind, and the direction he points out for us is an upright mind.

 

 

On the night of November 28, 1528, Wang Yangming woke up from a strange dream. He asked his disciples, "Where are we?"

The disciple replied, "Qinglongpu.(青龍鋪)" Wang Yangming asked again, "The boat seems to have stopped?"

 

The disciple replied: "It is by the Zhangjiang River(章江)." Wang Yangming smiled and asked: "How far is it to Nankang?"

 

The disciple replied: There is still a long way to go. Wang Yangming smiled again, but it was probably too late.

 

He asked someone to help him change his clothes, then he sat up straight with the help of a servant, and sat like that all night.

 

Early the next morning, he asked someone to call his disciple Zhou Ji(周積) in.

 

Zhou Ji rushed in. Wang Yangming had already fallen down.

 

It took him a long time to open his eyes.

He looked at Zhou Ji and said, "I'm leaving."

 

Zhou Ji shed tears silently and asked, "Teacher, do you have any last words?" The only sound in the boat was Wang Yangming's hissing breathing.

 

Wang Yangming used the last bit of his strength to smile at Zhou Ji and said,

 

"My heart is bright, what else can I say?"
