Pygmalion與Galatea
Pygmalion與Galatea
Pygmalion became more and more proud as he watched.
Not only was he satisfied with this carefully sculpted work, but what was even more amazing was that after looking at it for a while, he actually fell in love with the statue.
Indeed, the statue looks like a real woman.
With its beautiful face and slender figure, if it weren't for the coldness all over, people would have mistaken it for a peerless beauty standing there.
At first, Pygmalion only admired his masterpiece very much, but gradually he became madly in love with this statue.
Every day, Pygmalion hugs the statue and expresses his passion to the statue.
But no matter how enthusiastic he expressed it, the statue was always so cold and showed no reaction at all.
Pygmalion treated the statue like a child playing with a toy.
He dressed her in gorgeous clothes and bought her many cute little gifts.
Flowers, pearls, brooches, necklaces, even candies...etc., everything is available.
He also imagined that one day she would be able to talk to him very kindly.
Every night, Pygmalion also carried the statue to a special glass bed, covered her with a soft quilt, and sang a lullaby to coax her to sleep.
Although Pygmalion continued to show care and affection, the other party always looked at him indifferently and showed no reaction at all.
This made Pygmalion's spirit very painful. Finally, he had to go to the temple to ask Venus, the goddess of love, for help.
On this day, Pygmalion hugged the statue as usual and looked at her lovingly.
Suddenly, whether it was an illusion or reality, this cold statue became warm! He touched his hand again, looked at her face again, and saw that she was smiling at him.
Then, the arms and shoulders of the statue became like real people, soft and elastic, as if the wax statue had softened in the sun.
Pygmalion touched the wrist of the statue, and the pulse was still beating! At this time, Pygmalion was really excited.
With the help of Venus, the statue finally turned into a living beauty. She lives happily with Pygmalion.
Pygmalion gave her a beautiful name - Galatea. Later, they often went to the temple to thank Venus for her help.
