Perseus和Medusa

　　Perseus and his mother Danae drifted to a small island and were taken in by a local fisherman.

However, the king of that island, Polydectes, was a greedy and cruel man.

He saw that Danae was very beautiful and wanted to marry her.

Of course, Danae would not agree.

　　國王大怒，趁著Perseus在海裡打魚的時候，把Danae帶到王宮去，給她換上一套破衣服，用鐵鍊把她鎖起來，叫她做奴隸的工作。

　　Perseus, who was working at sea, was completely unaware of this incident.

One day, when he was dozing off, an elegant woman walked up to him and stared at him with soft eyes.

Perseus was embarrassed and lowered his head.

This noble woman wears a helmet on her head, holds a spear in her hand, wears a blue coat, and hangs a shiny sheepskin shield from her waist.

　　「Perseus，你可願意替我做點事?」

　　「請問你是誰?怎會知道我的名字?」

　　"I am the goddess Athena. There is one thing I want to ask you: a person is not unknown and does not deserve the respect of others.

It is useless to live a life of peace; or, even if he loses his life at a young age, But you have received a great honor.

Of these two people, which one would you choose?"

　　「當然我要選擇最後一種。」Perseus毫不猶豫地回答。

　　The goddess was very satisfied with this answer, so she smiled slightly, raised a bronze shield in front of Perseus,

and said: "Look, Perseus, you can see a monster here. Think about it. , can you go and kill her?"

　　Perseus向盾牌看了一眼，他在盾牌裡看到的，是一個女人的臉，那是一張蒼白得如死人一般的臉，頭髮是一條條的蛇。

　　Perseus stared at the copper shield, and after a while, he said: "If there is such a monster in this world, I am willing to kill him. But, where should I find him?"

　　女神聽了便笑著回答:「時間還沒有到，你還年輕，力氣還不夠。這是果爾剛蛇髮三女妖當中的一個，她叫做Medusa，你要好好記在心裡。」

　　After saying that, the goddess disappeared and he woke up

From then on, whether he was awake or asleep, he was always thinking about getting rid of

this monster.

　　Perseus一回到島上，得知了他母親被國王捉去當奴隸，他氣憤得咬牙切齒，來不及換下捕魚的衣服，就直衝到宮殿裡。

　　"I'm going to kill you! You treated my mother like this!!" Perseus roared at the king,

raised the stone mill and was about to throw it down at the king.

　　可是Danae拼命拉住他，說道:「聽我說，孩子，我們是沒有國家的流浪人，你把國王殺了，全島的人都會來跟你拼命的，你還是忍耐一下吧!」

　　Soon after this happened, the scheming king held a grand banquet and invited those with status to drink together.

On that day, many guests came to the king's banquet happily, bringing gifts suitable for their status.

　　Perseus也被邀請了，他在王宮門前走來走去，所有客人當中只有他空著手來，他是一個窮困的漁夫，當然沒有什麼像樣的禮品可送。

　　After a while, he heard someone gossiping: "What gift did that abandoned child bring?"

　　In order to humiliate him, the king sent someone to ask him to come in:

"I specially invited you to come, why don't you come in quickly?

Also, what gifts did you bring, can you let me see it?"

　　Perseus一聽，霎時滿面通紅，含含糊糊的應著，周圍的客人看了，全都哄堂大笑。

　　He suddenly remembered the story of the Gorgon.

He was so angry at being humiliated by everyone that he said, "Of course I am going to get a gift for the king. That is the head of Medusa among the three Gorgons."
