【Early Life of Gautama the Buddha】

 

Gautama was a prince of a small princely state.

 

When he was born, some Yogi predicted that he will either become a great emperor or a great sage.

When he made this prediction, Gautama’s father got a little excited. 

He did not want him to become a great sage.

 

He wanted him to become a great emperor.

 

He thought that by being exposed to some suffering or misery, he may turn into a sage.

 

So he kept him in utter pleasure – the best of food, clothes and pleasures.

 

When he was nineteen years of age, his father got him married to a very pretty young woman, kept him in a palace which was secluded from the rest of the society,

 

where he lived in pleasure and was never exposed to any kind of suffering.

 

One day, Gautama thought that he will just take a drive through the town,

 

so he asked his charioteer to take him across.

喬達摩是一位小土邦的王子。當他出生時，一些瑜伽士預言他要麼會成為一位偉大的皇帝，要么會成為一位偉大的聖人。

 

聽到喬達摩的預言，他的父親有些激動。他不希望他成為一位偉大的聖人，而是希望他成為一位偉大的皇帝。

 

他認為，經歷一些苦難或不幸，或許能讓他成為一位聖人。

 

於是，他讓他過著極致的享樂生活──最好的食物、衣服和享樂。

 

他十九歲時，父親為他娶了一位非常漂亮的年輕女子，把他安置在一座與世隔絕的宮殿裡。

 

在那裡，他生活享樂，從未遭受任何苦難。

 

有一天，喬達摩想開車穿過城鎮，於是他叫他的車夫帶他過去。
